The Designer
Italian born, Salvatore Brioni (1905 – 1976) embarked on his design education in the Milan Polytechnic and later continued in the prestigious Architectural Association in London. He made his name in the early 1940s when he opened his own design studio in Milan. Being recognized as one of the most inventive and influential Italian designers of the 20th Century he was also appointed as Head of Design for leading chains of furniture manufacturers. His profound interest in experimenting with moulded plywood, fiberglass and plastic led to some of his iconic furniture designs. Innovative for his time, Salvatore Brioni’s designs reflect his visionary design ideas and original concepts. He focused on functionality, creating stylish furniture which is practical and comfortable. The acclaimed Italian designer had been granted numerous design awards, acknowledging his contribution to modern furniture design.
